First female gardener at The Royal Parks

Women of The Royal Parks | The Royal Parks

At the opening of the new garden in The Regent’s Park – commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth II, I had the pleasure of meeting Josephine Gillespie who’s claim to fame is being the first female gardener employed by the Royal Parks in London. This was in 1956 – and she is fantastic. We had a great discussion about the new garden and she was whisked away to be interviewed. I look forward to hearing that story too. But you can find out more about Josephine and other female gardeners by following the link above.
